Barry Barnes of Terex Cranes implements succession plan

Barry Barnes, director of Terex Demag sales in Europe, has announced that he is implementing his succession plan. Barnes told colleagues yesterday at Bauma that he plans to retire ‘sometime in the future’ and that his successor will be Lee Maynard formerly UK general sales manager of recently purchased Terex-Atlas. Maynard will take up the position of general manager Terex cranes UK on 1st July and will shadow Barnes until the as yet unconfirmed date when he retires.

Unknown to many outside the company, Barnes has been carrying out the role of director of sales Europe since last July with a brief to improve the level of customer service and support, in addition to his role as Terex Cranes UK managing director. Countries covered include UK, Scandinavia, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Benelux countries.

Terex Cranes also confirmed that UK based Ainscough Crane Hire will take delivery of its new 1,000 tonne mobile crane, the AC1000 unveiled at Bauma, later this year. Due to the travel chaos, Ainscough representatives were unable to make the hand-over ceremony at the show.

Doug Friesen, vice president and managing director of Terex Cranes said that there are orders for three AC1000 cranes to be delivered this year with a further 26 orders already in the pipeline.
