Bernard Hunter top in Scotland
Edinburgh-based crane hire and machinery movement specialist Bernard Hunter has been named Scotland’s Top Health & Safety Conscious Company at a ceremony in Glasgow.
Now in its 19th year, the popular Transport News Scottish Rewards ceremony breakfast celebration attracted almost 600 industry guests. The competition’s judging panel of industry experts were particularly impressed by the quality of Bernard Hunter entry which included an example of their comprehensive Risk Assessment and Lifting Method Statement that is tailored specifically to each lifting job. Senior management’s dedication to pre-operational site surveys and total compliance were also highlighted.

Jim Rafferty, managing director of Bernard Hunter Ltd said: “We are delighted to have received this award and recognition like this indicates that we have not reached the summit of health & safety, rather that we are progressing in the right direction.”
Founded in Edinburgh in 1946 the company employs 42 full time staff and operates from a 15 acre site in the city’s Gilmerton Road specialising in crane hire, machinery movements, metal recycling and heavy haulage.
