Skyking to distribute Ascendant
UK manufacturer Ascendant Access has appointed Skyking as its sole UK distributor for the Ascendant range of vehicle mounted lifts.
Skyking, now part of the Martin group, will sell new machines and provide replacement parts and after sales service for all of Ascendant’s van and light truck mounted platforms in the UK. Ascendant will continue sell its tracked and specialist machines direct in the UK and handle its own export sales.

Further details of the distribution arrangements and latest product range will be announced at Vertikal Days in two weeks, Skyking will feature several Ascendant products on the stand which will also be manned by both Skyking and Ascendant staff.
Skyking director Mark Yarnold said: “Following some exploratory discussions it rapidly became clear that both organisations working together can achieve a strong UK market position far quicker than each working separately. We can concentrate on expanding our sales and service capability while Ascendant can focus on rebuilding its production capacity and specialist markets. Skyking will hold an inventory of Ascendant products reducing lead times and will utilise its mobile and site engineers to provide an unrivalled after sales service, providing a rapid response to spare parts and service requirements.”
Ascendant’s Steve Dean added: “We have had an incredible amount of support from our loyal customers since I regained control of Ascendant but this success brings challenges in terms of resources. Skyking is committed to expanding its sales and after-sales operations so will be positioned to service the rapidly growing demand for our products much more quickly than we can on our own. We have the products available now, and in development, which will allow Skyking to once again become a very significant supplier to the van and light truck market and complement their strength in the larger platform market as the sole UK Palfinger Platforms Dealer”

Will there ever be an explanation why Skyking are no longer the full line Palfinger partner (with the Palfinger Italia product now being distributed by Cumberland Platforms).
Skyking need this relationship to work before they lose credibility.
Great to see well respected British companies with complementary skills working together. At last Ascendant's talent for cost effective reliable designs is supported by Mark Carrington's - oops sorry Mark Yarnold's (Carrington now sold) well established sales and service set up. A refreshing alternative to buying Italian. With Brexit and all that we can now Buy British.
