New flagship for Herkules
The Polish crane and heavy transport company Herkules has taken delivery of a new 750 tonne Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom ‘truck crane’.
The eight axle crane is said to combine the flexibility of a 750 tonne crawler crane with the mobility of a wheeled crane. The crane is available with a wide selection of boom configurations including the SX boom system optimised for lifting wind turbine components weighing up to 127 tonnes to heights of up to 175 metres. Using 165 metres of main boom topped by the heavy duty 150 tonne capacity fixed offset jib for a maximum tip height of 184 metres.
The crane can travel with a gross vehicle weight of 96 tonnes and 12 tonnes per axle or 48 tonnes with the outriggers removed

The handover
The new LG 1750 becomes the company’s new flagship crane, extending the Hercules fleet in terms of both capacity and contract capability and is intended for wind turbine installation contracts.
Pawel Maciejak, director of the Herkules crawler crane and wind energy division said: "The high mobility and carrying capacity were decisive factors for the purchase of the new LG 1750 as well as our confidence in the products and reliable service for Liebherr cranes. Having the chassis of an All Terrain crane, which can drive to any application site reducing transport costs compared to a crawler crane, thereby saving time and costs.
