Material handling Genies
West Sussex, UK based Southern Cranes and Access has placed an order for 20 Genie GS1932 scissor lifts, fitted with Aerial and Handling Services’ recently introduced deckRailXtra material handling attachment system. The units were sold by Genie regional dealer Workplatform.
The GS1932 will have the system installed before their first rental on the Mensa project at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) in Reading where contractor BAM Nuttall has already been using the deckRailXtra system.

Ryhs Tillman of BAM Nuttall said: “We found the deckRailXtra system to be a very safe and efficient way of lifting steel rebar during the high level construction process on our project. With only 14kg of weight being added to the scissor lift there is little if any noticeable difference to the platform capacity unlike some other systems we have used.”

David Dennis of Southern Cranes and Access, added: “Having previously had many scissor lifts on the Mensa project returned because the contractor insisted on having material handling attachments which we were unable to offer was frustrating. The decision to purchase these therefore has been driven by both customer demand and the availability of a genuine system which does not limit or moderate the use of the host equipment.”
Southern Cranes and Access has its depot for cranes, access equipment and telehandlers in Pullborough, West Sussex with its Southern Contract Lifting division operating from a depot in Croydon.
