Dunham closes its doors
Dunham Cranes Ltd of Lancashire in the UK has closed its doors following a voluntary liquidation which was completed last week.
The company which was owned by Alan, Martin and Peter Dunham was placed into a solvent liquidation following a tough year following on from the voluntary liquidation of the brother’s Dunham Developments business last year.

The Dunhams got into self erecting tower cranes after spotting their potential in their building business and being unable to find the product they wanted. The brothers became the UK dealer for FB Gru of Italy, offering the cranes for both sale and rent.
We have been unable to reach the Dunhams for comment although we understand that Phillip Dunham retains the UK distribution rights for FB Gru and has acquired a couple of used cranes from Dunham.
Vertikal Comment
The Dunham’s are true gentlemen and entered the crane business when they realised the benefits that self erecting tower cranes can bring to certain building sites.
While cranes were not their main business they participated in the industry attending the CPA tower crane interest group meetings and taking a serious interest in crane safety.
The deep recession in the building business hit both of their companies and in the end lasted too long for them to survive without leaving substantial debts.
According the records at Companies House it looks as though they have closed while they were able to ensure that creditors were covered? If so this is no surprise. Hopefully when the climate improves and if they are able they will look at the business again.
