Lloyds British Testing acquires Rumney Crane
Birmingham-based national lifting equipment specialist, Lloyds British Testing, has acquired the Swansea engineering business, Rumney Crane, for undisclosed sum.
Rumney Crane, which provides lifting solutions to the international steel, and ports and harbours industries, will be integrated into Lloyds British Testing. The new venture will be named Lloyds Rumney Crane division. The £2 million turnover Rumney business will retain its administrative base and key personnel at Port Tennant in Swansea, but all engineering services will be available through Lloyds’ national network of 15 service centres.

“It is our intention to consider further niche acquisitions over the next twelve months,” said Ian White, Lloyds British Testing chief executive. “The Lloyds long term aim is to build an international lifting equipment engineering group of companies, and we are exploring new avenues of business all the time.”
The Rumney acquisition will boost Lloyds employee base too over 300 staff, and contribute to an annual turnover in excess of £18 million.
