Boom failure fatality

The owner of tree service business died last week after falling around 10 metres from the boom lift he was using.

An OSHA statement indicates that the boom snapped dropping Adam Mackintosh, 34, to the ground.

Mackintosh who leaves a wife and three children all under three, was trimming trees in Littleton, near Denver Colorado. Mackintosh operated his own company, Adams Tree Service.

At this stage we have no further information on what type of boom lift this was and what caused it to fail. It is almost unheard of for a boom to simply ‘snap’ so we will endeavour to find out what actually happened.
