Another crane tips on Bangalore site
Yet another crane accident has occurred on the Bangalore Metro site, the second in a week.
From reports we have received it seems that the accident was very similar to the one that occurred last weekend, in which a tractor crane tipped over sideways as the ground subsided beneath its front wheels.
Thankfully once again no one was injured and this time the crane, which was lifting heavy equipment, came down within the site boundaries.
In a statement to the Times of India B L Yashavanth Chavan, a spokesman for the Bangalore Metro Rail Company said: "There is nothing to worry. We have been working on this site for the last three years. However, following two such incidents in close succession, we are also analyzing whether they are site-specific or related to drivers operating. All necessary precautions are being taken across Metro sites to avoid any untoward incidents."

Vertikal Comment
We have already said our piece on this, there is simply no excuse to have two identical and predicable accidents within the same week. The company is clearly dismissive of the need to sharpen up its crane safety policies.
Such attitudes are a blight on India’s current emergence as a world economic power and all of the progress it is making as a nation.
