First Hoogwerker Dagen a success

Hoogwerker Dagen, a new aerial work platform exhibition aimed at the Dutch access rental industry and held over a Friday and a Saturday in Late September attracted senior representatives from most of the countries rental companies with over 900 pre registering and over 600 collecting their tickets at the gate.

The first Hoogwerker Dagen in Holland

The Vertikal Press attended and saw a number of products that we had not seen elsewhere, see Vertikal.Net September 19th “How big is your deck”. We will be covering some of the other innovative products in the weeks ahead, both in these pages and in our Printed publications Cranes&Access and Kran&Bühne.

A view from the RT area

One popular feature was the Rough Terrain area, consisting of the very fine deep sand conditions that make up much of the ground in Holland. While not looking too bad it proved too much for many of the units and demonstrated why crawlers are so popular in Holland.

The soft sand proved a real challenge

Overall we were very impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, number of unusual exhibits and quality of the turnout. All of the companies that we spoke with seemed happy with the results, especially given that it was a first time event.

We were also surprised by how strong a following Vertikal.Net has in Holland, we will need to take note and add some more local coverage.

The big question now of course is do the exhibitors and organisers repeat the show next year, when APEX is due to be held in Holland around the same time?, ideally a local show needs to be an annual event and momentum is important in the early days of such an event but to have two dedicated access shows in Holland within a week of each other does seem a bit much, even if one is local and one international!
