100 tonne Grove for Walkers
UK based transport company Walker & Son has taken delivery of a new 100 tonne Grove GMK4100L.
The Tuxford, Nottinghamshire based business is probably best known for its distinctive red and cream trucks, although the company has a fleet of eight mobile cranes ranging from an 12 tonne Iron Fairy to the GMK4100L its new ‘flagship’.
The GMK4100L’s 60 metre main boom tops the company’s previous flagship, the Liebherr LTM1080/1, by a full 12 metres while offering some significant increases in capacity.

Walker’s crane hire manager, Bob Wilson, said: “Our new crane will enable us to carry out heavier lifts and longer reaches, for work such as in Power Stations, Collieries and Petrochemical site, where we have previously had to hire cranes in for”.
Walker and Son Hauliers was established in 1954 by Edward Daniel Walker as a small Haulage contractor based in the village of East Markham, Nottinghamshire. He gradually laid the foundations for today’s wide range of business activities. Since then three generations of Walkers have helped develop a thriving international company with a strong reputation. The business moved to its current location on the British Field site in Tuxford in 1960.
