Access Link meets at Snorkel

The UK’s Access Link the association of independently owned regional access rental companies held its winter meeting at the Snorkel Vigo Centre plant in the North East England last week.

Snorkel also used the occasion to formally launch its new Snorkel UK operation, its partnership with equipment distributor Leach Lewis Plant.

Mark Yarnold, Snorkel UK major accounts sales manager, said: “We were delighted to welcome Access Link back to the factory and to discuss our shared goals and objectives.”

Access Link chairman Malcolm Bowers said: “We first visited Vigo Centre in December 2006, when the company had just bought UpRight and there were only two operatives in the corner of this huge facility, building 19ft scissor lifts.”

“The company has come a long way since then, adding Snorkel and merging the two brands together. We were impressed with the breadth of the machine range, the product development strategy and the level of support offered to Link members through the new Snorkel UK partnership.”

During the meeting, the Link re-elected Bowers as chairman for 2011 and welcomed John Young of Brightcast to his first meeting. Brightcast has been appointed as a Link member for central London and addressing the meeting Young said: “Thanks to the demand from Link members we are increasing our capital spending plans for 2011.”

The association also had an update from Giles Councell of IPAF on its Rental+ accreditation programme. The Link is planning to assist IPAF in a campaign of creating more industry awareness of the accreditation scheme.
