2011 a better year

2010 is finally behind us and hopefully we are into a more prosperous year as we move towards more positive times.

The past 12 months have been very mixed with an incredibly tough start to the year followed by a more positive second half until we hit the extreme weather conditions of late November and December.

Most of us will be looking forward to the continuing improvements from the second half of last year continuing to bring a positive trend to business. Although many are still apprehensive, given the austerity measures that are coming into effect around the world.

While the past two years have been hard, they have also served to remind us of what is really important. In years to come they may also be seen as a turning point in how we manage our businesses. They will certainly make us appreciate the good times more when they arrive.

2010 has been seen the premature passing of many good people from within the industries we cover and should serve to remind us that life is short and its duration uncertain and as such we ought to make the most of it. A good many of us are in this business – cranes and access equipment – because we love it and because, for the most part, it is fun.

Hopefully we will rediscover that in 2011
