Tadano expands in Central/South America
Japanese crane maker Tadano is expanding its operations in Central and South America, opening an office in Panama and an assembly facility in Brazil.
The Panama office will be part of Tadano America and will serve as the group's new regional base of operations, responsible for expanding the company’s business throughout Central and South America.
In Brazil Tadano plans to open a new joint venture business - Tadano Brazil – in partnership with is long time distributor T.D.B. do Brazil Industria e Comercio and its owner Marcio Guimaraes de Campos. The new business will be 51 percent owned by T.D.B, while Campos will own 49 percent, the business will start with a capital of $5.9 million.

In addition to T.D.B’s current business of importing, selling, and servicing Tadano cranes, the new Brazilian operation will have a manufacturing capability, allowing it to import “semi-finished cranes” for full local assembly, this will include importing superstructures for mounting on local trucks and chassis as well as assembling ‘semi knock-down’ kits of other Tadano cranes. The new company has a target to achieve $46 million of revenues by 2013.
