First Comansa cranes arrive in India
Comansa has delivered its first four tower cranes in India, three of the cranes, built by the group’s Chinese joint venture operation - Comansa Jie – were erected on power station projects in December.
Comansa’s Indian agent ECEL sold the cranes with support from the engineering and sales teams of Comansa Jie, who were also on hand to assist with the initial erection and commissioning.
BGR Energy Systems which specialises in the engineering and construction of power stations purchased the four Comansa Jie 21CJ290-18 tonne flat top cranes specifically for the erection of four massive cooling towers on two power plant projects.
Two of the units were erected at the Kalisindh plant, in the state of Rajasthan in north-east India, while the third was erected at the Marwa plant, in the state of Chhattisgarh in central India, with the fourth due to go up in February.

The two cooling towers at Kalisindh will be 200 metres high with 142 metre diameter bases – India’s largest cooling towers. The Marwa towers will be 170 metres high with 115 metre bases.
Given their ultimate heights the crane have been equipped with a special dismantling system, designed by Linden Comansa, which will allow the crane to dismantle some of its own jib sections and remove part of its counterweight, in order to permit it climb down inside the cooling tower.
