First Liebherr LTM1100-4.2 in UK

Bernard Hunter of Edinburgh, Scotland has taken delivery of the UK’s first 100 tonne LTM 1100-4.2 All Terrain crane. The crane joins the all Liebherr fleet.

The four axle LTM 1100-4.2 boasts a 60 metre main boom and has been specified with a 19 metre swingaway extension with 20° and 40° manual offsets, providing an on-board under-hook height of 79 metres.

In the UK it can also travel its 17.2 tonnes of basic counterweight. The crane has also been ordered with a further 11 tonnes of counterweight which is transported separately when required.

The crane also includes the Liebherr LICCON2 crane control system and the BTT-Bluetooth function, which provides wireless remote control for all superstructure operations, plus outrigger activation and positioning, engine start/stop and speed, electronic inclination display and automatic levelling during set-up.

Bernard Hunter’s managing director Jim Rafferty said: "We chose this particular model because of its build quality and technology. Its compactness and excellent main boom duties are ideal for the large amount of inner city work we undertake, where space restrictions are usual and we need to complete lifting contracts swiftly and with minimum site disruption.”

We’ve also built up an excellent relationship with Liebherr sales and after-sales personnel over the years, both here in the UK and at their Ehingen factory, and this counts a great deal for us when we make a decision on major investments such as this one".

Bernard Hunter was founded in 1946 and provides crane and specialist equipment rental services to Scotland’s central belt and northern England. The company also has interests in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals, end-of-life vehicle processing, machinery movement and secure storage facilities.
