Ramirent takes SDM

Finnish based international rental company Ramirent has acquired the assets of Stavební Doprava a Mechanizace (SDM) in the Czech Republic.

SDM is one of the oldest rental operations in the country and was formed in 1992 out of a previous state owned rental equipment department. In addition to offering rental services it is an equipment distributor and service provider.

It was also one of the first companies in the Czech Republic to offer powered access equipment and alloy scaffold towers for sale or rent as a distributor for UpRight and Instant.

Today its rental operations include general equipment, aluminium scaffolding,
lifts and hoists from three locations in Prague, Mukařov and Brno. The business employs 10 staff who will join Ramirent, retaining their seniority.

Tomasz Walawender, senior vice president of Ramirent Europe Central said: “The acquisition is in line with Ramirent's strategy of developing a nation-wide coverage in its markets to be close to our customers. The location of SDM’s outlets complements well our existing network and brings synergies and will improve our customer service. I warmly welcome SDM into the Ramirent Group”.
