San Francisco crazies

A visitor to San Francisco was shocked by the access equipment he spotted from the freeway into town.

In his words: “Entering San Francisco on the interstate I spotted these guys putting up a banner for a new film.”

“I couldn’t understand at first why they couldn’t reach the job from the ground but as the freeway was around 40’/12m above street level plus an estimated 20’/6m to the top of the building then 60’/20m would seem about right for their highest point.”
What equipment were they using to drop & tie the banner? A ladder that hooked over the edge of the roof! And Yes it was windy too.” Please register to see all images

The access method? A hanging ladder and leaning over the edge

The man on the ladder is at least wearing a harness with some form of long lanyard, although the harness hardly looks the best nor well fitted. The man on the ledge above though does not appear to have any form of protection and working with a banner this size in the wind can be completely unpredictable.

At least one of the men has a harness on

There are risks and there are risks … this one seems a little crazier than most.
