Sevcon/Tech ops up 26%
Sevcon, the supplier of motor control systems used in aerial lifts and fork trucks has reported a solid pick-up in demand.
Revenues in what is its second fiscal quarter were up 26 percent to $7.79 million, while pre-tax profits increased from $63,000 last year to $658,000 this year, although $451,000 of this was a one time gain on the sale of the company’s closed facility in the UK.
For the six months revenues were $14.67 million 17 percent higher than in the same period last year. While pre-tax profits were $591,000 compared to $287,000 last year.
The company statement said: “The Company saw improved demand in its traditional markets, as well as increased sales of its new Gen4 AC product for new applications, such as two and four wheel on road electric vehicles.”
