New anti-surf podiums

UK-based equipment manufacturer Youngman has launched its first 'anti-surf' podium models. Following consultation with a number of key clients about safety, the new models have been designed specifically to prevent users ‘surfing’ its popular podium products. (Surf = to pull the unit along from the platform)

The P1000-AS and P1500-AS models can only be moved once the user has dismounted from the platform and has been achieved by replacing two of the caster wheels with sturdy rubber feet.

Youngman has launched two new anti-surf podiums

The new models have been introduced in response to several major buyers that noted the frequency with which some users compromised safety standards by leaving all four wheels of the podium in the unlocked position to enable them to pull the podium along (surfing) without dismounting.

The P1000-AS and P1500-AS units, which offer working heights of 2.94 and 3.44 metres respectively, can both pass through a standard doorway prior to being quickly and simply unfolded into their working position.

Vertikal Comment

The 'surfing' issue has become an concern wiht a number of large contractors, both on podium platforms and room scaffolds as well as push around scissor lifts.

The new Youngman models stop this dead while also improving efficiency for those who always used the properly, by not requiring the locking of casters. However the fact that users do this also illustrates the real need to a self propelled function.
