Glyn Williams retires

We received the sad news yesterday that after 15 years in the UK access industry Glyn Williams of Loxam Access is retiring due to having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at a progressive stage.

Williams, 57, started his career with SGB rental followed by two years with SGB Powered Access, five years as national manager at Independent Access, three years as national account manager with Access Rentals and three years as key account manager for Loxam Access.

He says that during this entire time he had zero absence due to illness, then most recently developed neurological problems in his hands and arms which put him off work for three months and now he has received the final diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease.

He has written to us to say that with the disease progressing rapidly he will now not have the opportunity to say thank you and goodbye to many of the people who have made his last 15 years so special. He has therefore asked if he could say goodbye and pass on his thanks to ex-colleagues and competitors alike via Vertikal.Net. We are honoured to carry out his wishes.

He says that while his mobility and certain functions are failing fast his life expectancy is two to five years, but that he will be fighting the disease with all he has. In the meantime he will be keeping in touch with the industry reading Vertikal.Net. He is also happy for us to publish his email address which is [email protected]
