Cyprus Death Wish

A reader in Cyprus has sent us a series of photo’s he took of a large scissor lift being used for a steel erection and or cladding job in the country.

It is surprising how oblivious those on site are to the unnecessary dangers the crew working at height are exposed to.

A normal working site but focus on the scissor lift

The lift is working from a busy unloading area with telehandlers and loader cranes at work around the lift with little attempt to cordon the machine off from the danger of collision. Then for some odd reason the men working at height have dismantled the guardrails and finally as if all this is all not enough a colleague decides to join them on the open deck by climbing over the steel work.

The photos are self-explanatory.

With no sign of any cordoning-off it is vulnerable to being hit
