Second ‘Apprentice Plant Mechanic’ win
For the second year running, Jonatan Cwiecek of UK based Nationwide Platforms has won Apprentice Plant Mechanic of the Year award at the National Construction College South and London Awards.
Cwiecek, 21, has been with the company since 2009 and is based at its Barking depot. “I enjoy working for the company because they allow me to take pride and pleasure in what I do,” said Cwiecek.

Regional director for the South East, Marc Johnson added: "The Lavendon Access Services’ Apprenticeship Scheme is excellent and something I would encourage anyone with an interest in the construction/access industry to investigate. Lavendon has made a substantial commitment to this scheme and has confirmed that commitment by continuing to invest during the downturn with an intake of seven new apprentices across the UK for September 2011.
Currently the South East region has 12 apprentices, all of which I take a personal interest in. I am impressed by all them all, but there are a few shining stars, Jonatan Cwiecek of Nationwide Platforms, Barking depot is certainly one of them.
In the depot environment, Jonatan's ability, attitude, awareness and tea making are highly regarded and the reports I receive from the college are a pleasure to read. They are always glowing, highly scored and very importantly, consistent. As a result of his hard work, he has won Plant Engineer of the year 2010 and 2011 consecutively, an achievement he should be very proud of.”
I would like to add that the other two nominees this year were Dean Abbott and Nathan Foster from our Panther Platforms depot in Luton both of which would also have been deserved winners".
