Lavendon takes new trucks

UK based Lavendon Access Services has taken delivery of 62 new delivery trucks- within the fleet of Panther and Nationwide Platforms – that incorporate a host of new features and development.

The truck replacement programme has been a 12 month project, beginning with an extensive consultation process with its drivers, followed by detailed work with potential suppliers to address the innovations required and the placing of an order with DAF trucks, King Trailers and Sterling bodies back in April.

The new vehicles include a host of new ideas to improve both safety and efficiency, including special ramps, safety guardrails, built in LED lighting, warning lights, charging points and improved tie down facilities. Click here to see more

Karl Wilshaw, Lavendon UK transport manager, said: “Lavendon has made a substantial investment on the delivery and have succeeded in making tailored technical advances. Lavendon’s delivery fleet is evolving these units are truly the next generation.”

Stephen Wright, King Trailers sales director added: “We are pleased to have worked very closely with Lavendon to ensure that our very latest safety innovations were incorporated into the new builds, these include LED in-deck safety lighting system, extendible operator handrails incorporating safety walkway and enhanced load tie down points for maximum securing of multiple load configurations. After all in today’s working environment operator safety is paramount.”

Terry James, sales manager of Sterling, said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Lavendon to produce one of the most advanced plant body design’s currently available. One of our most interesting developments is the Sterling gridlock high grip composite flooring system that has been fitted as a trial on two of the 23 bodies we have built for Lavendon. This alternative to hardwood is one example of how we work with our customers to lead the way in developing new innovations to meet the challenges of this constantly evolving industry”.

The first employee to drive one of the new vehicles, Mark Howell, from the Panther depot in Bristol, added: “The rear view camera is great. It makes it easier for you to see objects directly behind, that you can’t see from the front mirrors. The new side extensions and safety chains make it easier to work around the machines and the L.E.D lights that run along the bed of the lorry are great for loading and un-loading in the winter.”
