Death Wish in a bucket

Spotted this weekend – Saturday 27th August - in Reading UK, a man using one of the craziest examples of someone using a bucket as an access platform.

Our reader spotted it at the rear of the old Kennet Arm Pub on Elgar Road, where a contractor was demolishing a garage and clearing space behind the former pub. While the two men in the photo have all the PPE gear – hi-viz vests, hard hats etc.. and yet, they have not bothered to cordon off the machine, no pedestrian or traffic control and no safe means of accessing the higher parts of the job.

The solution to use the excavator, not only can the man easily fall as he has no protection whatsoever... ad to that that such excavators are designed for speed when it comes to slewing and can be jerky, or a simple slip could dump our man oin the ground.

Of course it is a Saturday and they clearly had no access equipment on site…. All down to lack of planning. One assumes that this time they have got away with it. Sad thing is such companies are likely to repeat the problem next time.

Definitely qualifies as a Death Wish
