Link Belt updates HTC3140

US based crane manufacturer Link Belt has announced a number of significant improvements to its HTC3140 telescopic truck cranes for 2012.

The 120 tonne (140 ton) HTC-3140 and HTC-3140 LB (Long Boom) models were designed as simple, cost-effective truck cranes with good lift capacities, while being easy to move on the road.

The new features for 2012 include the latest emissions technology, the superstructure uses the Cummins Tier 4i/Stage IIIB QSB 6.7 engine, while the carrier uses Cummins' 2010 EPA emissions-compliant ISX15 with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and selective catalyst reduction (SCR).

The new engine is coupled to an Eaton UltraShift PLUS transmission with 11 forward speeds, 3 reverse speeds and no-clutch-pedal shifting. The transmission's Hill Start Aid prevents roll-back or roll-forward when starting on grades. The crane also has a two-speed auxiliary transmission for jobsite travel. On the road, the 3140 can top 65 mph (104.6 kph).

The Link-Belt Pulse total crane operating system is also now built in to monitor multiple crane functions including, wind speed, two blocking, real-time boom latching operation, counterweight removal and installation and full diagnostic capabilities in addition to its role as rated capacity limiter.

Also new are redesigned cabs with new gauges and revised control placement including a new outrigger operation with self-levelling. The upper cab tilts up to 20 degrees a cup holder and a five-way-adjustable seat with headrest. The lower cab is now fitted with office racks, a hat rack, Power and heated mirrors and an easy-to-read LCD display.
