Business development manager for NSG

UK based scaffolding specialist NSG UK has appointed a new business development manager - Chris Edwards - to help its expansion into the offshore, nuclear and environmental markets.

Edwards, 53, joins NSG from design consultancy GHA Livigunn and will be based at the company’s Deeside headquarters, but will have a national remit across NSG’s core services, which includes scaffolding and access, painting, blasting and thermal insulation.

Edwards started his career in the paper manufacturing industry, moving into sales and business development before joining Warrington based Crosfield, formerly part of Unilever Speciality Chemicals.

He said: “The core business is currently doing well in a tough market place, but to keep growing we need to be able to adapt and seek out opportunities in other areas. My remit will be to bring in one off construction projects as well as longer term maintenance contracts.

“NSG does a lot of offshore and petro-chemical work with clients including Centrica and Ineos, and we want to expand further into this market. There are also growth sectors such as nuclear and renewable energy that we are aiming to capitalise on. There is plenty of opportunity for growth in both existing markets and new sectors.”

NSG managing director Mike Carr added: “Chris has 30 years of experience in industry and we are delighted to welcome him into the company. His role is crucial to the growth of NSG UK, as we look to source opportunities in a range of new sectors and consolidate our existing markets.”
