Hiab launches small telescopic

Cargotec has announced a small telescopic boom loader crane for emerging markets – the Hiab ST 080 – with up to 3,200kg maximum capacity.

The light weight crane uses Hiab’s hexagonal profile boom sections and is available with two or three telescopic extensions. The two extension ST 083-032 has a horizontal reach of 7.8 metres, while the three extension ST 084-032 offers 10.1 metres.

The ST080 is said to be ideal for light trucks due to its compact dimensions, the cranes feature simple manual cross chassis controls enabling the driver to operate the crane from both sides of the truck in the same logical sequence. The hoist mechanism includes a large drum for rope storage and high speeds for quick operation.

Marcel Kappe of Cargotec said: "The need for ST cranes is rising rapidly in the emerging markets. We are delighted to be able to present our customers with more alternatives, so that they can find the best solution for their work."

Vertikal Comment

Hiab launched its ST range in 2009 as it looked to increase sales in Asia where the small Japanese telescopic loader cranes made by companies such as Unic and Tadano have created a market that is minimal to non-existent in Europe, where articulated booms are preferred. This unit sounds like an ideal product for its targeted market region.
