Strong pickup for Smie

French crane anti-collision system specialist Smie has said that it experienced double digit growth in the business in the first half of the fiscal year- April through September.

While the private company has not published the actual numbers or added any further detail, it says that thanks to the efforts of its staff and the adoption of a new, more aggressive business strategy, it is experience a strongly improving upward trend.

It adds that it has made substantial progress with spreading its international coverage and upgrading its distribution network. At the same time close co-operation with its customers and partners has resulted in positive new products, such as its DLZ-AC system for mobile cranes.

Based on the success of its new launches, the company has taken steps to ensure that adequate funds are available to invest heavily in further new products and expects to unveil these at Intermat next spring.

Commercial director David Colombat said: “We are pleased that the sacrifices we had to make at the height of the crisis in the construction industry and the strategy that we have put in place are now bearing fruit. The results that we have achieved in the first half confirm the positive trend”
