Volvo buys Midwest Aerials
US based Volvo Rents has acquired Midwest Aerials & Equipment of St Louis, in the latest move in its major acquisition spree.
Midwest operates a fleet that is largely made up of aerial lifts and telehandlers, with branches in Kansas City and Springfield in Missouri and Bloomington, Illinois. The fleet includes products from Genie, JLG Skyjack and others.
Dan Tumminello and Kevin Morrell established the company in 1988 and manage the business today together with Dan Martino and Joe Alonzo. The four will remain with the business, helping Volvo expand its mid-west operations.
Mike Crouch, Volvo Rents’ vice president of business development said: “Adding an aerial specialist to a full-line rental company sounds counter-intuitive, but Dan Tumminello, Kevin Morrell, Dan Martino and Joe Alonzo have built such an energized and experienced team that the culture is truly an automatic and instant fit. We are fortunate to have their customer and jobsite knowledge in the Midwest as we continue to strategically grow our footprint.
Tumminello added: “Our customers have always been number one and our team members are like a hard-working family dedicated to our customers. Moving forward, we are all very excited about being part of Volvo Rents because we have a culture that is very comparable to Volvo’s culture. We are very excited about the additional fleet opportunities — adding dirt and other equipment to our aerial fleet — since that will add value for our customers.”
