Mecalac drops Ahlmann brand name

French building machinery manufacturer Mecalac has dropped the Ahlmann brand name and will in future distribute all products under the Mecalac brand.

Mecalac manufactures earth-moving equipment and is market leader for compact mobile excavators in France, while Ahlmann Baumaschinen manufacturers wheel loaders including telescopic, articulated, all-wheel and swing loaders in Büdelsdorf, Germany. Ahlmann Baumaschinen has also changed its corporate name to Mecalac Baumaschinen.

Mecalac president Henri Marchetta said: “These actions are a part of our growth strategy, which are also supported by the employees of the subsidiaries affected by the name change. Our new, highly process-oriented product range will help strengthen the Mecalac brand and further support its internationalisation.”

The new Mecalac AS 900

Ahlmann was founded in Büdelsdorf in 1952 as a division of Ahlmann Carlshütte, following the introduction of the side discharge swivel loader.
It was sspun off as Ahlmann Maschinenbau in 1972 to focus on its loader range. It merged with Mecalac of France in 2002.
