$6 million settlement for fatal fall

A $6 million settlement is expected for a fatal 2010 incident in Alabama, involving a bucket truck.

The incident on July 22nd of that year, involved two men falling from a radio tower at Fort McClellan, Anniston, Alabama. The men Jonce Hubble, 41 and Barry Sloan, 37 were just finishing work and were at a height of around 12 metres on the 60 metre tower. A bucket truck belonging to Barnhart Crane and Rigging was also closing up and accidently caught up on a guy cable pulling the tower over.

The families of the deceased had filed a lawsuit for wrongful death alleging that the deaths were due to the company’s negligence. The company decided to settle out of court a week before the scheduled trial date in December. The two men each had four children, the bulk of the settlement – details of which have not been revealed, will go to the two families.
