First outing for 52 metre Falcon

The first 52 metre TCA Falcon FS520C to go into a rental fleet has gone to work at the athlete’s village in London’s Olympic park.

The world’s largest spider lift was delivered to Ireland headquartered Easi UpLifts at the end of last year and made its debut in the UK at the high profile apartment project in Stratford, East London.

The building houses a 46 metre high internal atrium, which needed cleaning along with slight repairs to the roofing systems. However the only access to the site was through a 1.4 wide doorway, making it impossible for larger powered access equipment to enter the building. Once inside, the floor space was also at a premium, leaving just enough room for the machine to be set up and operated.

Easi UpLifts claims that this solution was the most efficient and economical for its client, saving time and money that would have been lost through the use of traditional scaffolding.

Reaching the top of this narrow atrium efficiently was a challenge

Easi Uplifts’ managing director John Ball said: “The 52 metre spider is part of an increasing capital investment in our specialised access division. We will continue to lead the way, providing customers with cost effective and time saving solutions to difficult access problems. In the last few years, we have led the trend in the UK by investing in the latest spider and truck-mounted access technologies. We have also increased budgets for employee training for this equipment to ensure maximum safety for its users.”

The view from the top is even more impressive

“Early 2012 will also see the addition of two new 90 metre Bronto Skylift truck-mounted machines to our UK rental fleet with more specialised equipment arriving later in the year.”
