Genie launches aviation scissor

Genie has launched a new Aviation version of its 26ft GS 2646 slab electric
scissor lift, the GS2646AV.

The new model was launched today at the Cygnus Aviation Expo in Las Vegas, which runs until Friday.

The unit features a powered platform extension option which increases the deck length by an extra 1.5 metres. The Padded Aircraft Protection Rail (PAR) system cushions the platform guardrails from causing surface damage. Gates at both ends of the platform provide easy access for the operators and each incorporates a safety interlock, preventing the machine from being operated when they are open.

As with the standard model working and drive height is 7.92 metres, while overall width is 56 inches/1.42metres when fitted with the PAR protection, compared to the 46 inches/1.17 metres of the standard model. Platform capacity is 340 kg compared to the standard machine’s 454kg.

The platform surface is extra thick and includes a special slip resistant surface. A “flight line” option also provides a higher maximum wind speed rating of up to 35 mph and the new Genie SmartLink control system provides on-board diagnostics allowing software updates to be easily implemented remotely or while connected to a laptop.

Jeff Weido, scissors senior product manager said: “Through our extensive research, we were able to design our new machine to hone in on the needs of this unique industry. This scissor lift is not just for aircraft maintenance; it is also for aircraft manufacturing. It is truly a start-to-finish product for the aviation industry.”

The new model will be available in all ANSI markets with production beginning in mid-second quarter.
