New fixed jib option for Manitowoc 16000

Manitowoc Cranes has released a new fixed jib option for its 400 tonne (440 ton) capacity Manitowoc 1600 crawler crane. The jib complements the existing luffing jib attachment and has a 93 tonne (102 ton) capacity and a maximum length of 42.7 metres (140ft). At a length of 24.4 metres (80ft), the fixed jib can be installed on a 72 metre (236.2ft) main boom.

A fixed jib now available for the Manitowoc 16000 crawler crane

Jerry Maloney, global product director for crawler cranes at Manitowoc, said: “This fixed jib is useful in situations where the crane operator must lift up and over existing structures. Those that will benefit the most from are users that need to reach up and over, but not necessarily manipulate the jib. It would typically be used in offshore oil platform fabrication yards, on transportation and infrastructure projects, as well as in refineries and petrochemical facilities.”

Continuing Manitowoc’s efforts to provide as much asset utilisation as possible the 16000 fixed jib incorporates inserts and other components from the Manitowoc Model 2250 luffing jib. The new jib helps reduce rigging time for applications where luffing is not required.
