260+ Aerial lifts to sell

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers will hold an auction next Monday to sell more than 260 aerial lifts and telehandlers from the United Rentals fleet.

The unreserved public sale also includes around 250 other pieces of general equipment and will take place as a virtual auction in Maryland. The equipment itself is located at five different locations in Maryland, Kentucky, New Jersey and New York.

The lifts on sale include 106 boom lifts, mostly JLG and Genie all heights including half a dozen 125ft straight booms and a 135 JLG. While the equipment dates from 1989 to 2010 the vast majority is 2001 to 2005 vintage. One notable exception is a 66ft JLG 66SJC track mounted boom.

There are also 128 scissor lifts of similar ages, mostly from JLG, Genie and Skyjack and 32 telehandlers including a number of 2008 Genie models. Models run the whole gamut from low-hour Crown Waves and JLG mast lifts to large Skyjack Rough Terrain units.

Kevin Parr, Eastern regional vice president for United said: “Our November auction was a great success and we found a formula that allows both local and international buyers to benefit. The staging of equipment in various geographic locations allows local buyers to test, inspect and compare the equipment with ease, and Ritchie Bros.’ marketing network adds the confidence of competitive international buyers, which in turn creates a truly global market. We are very pleased with their flexibility in being able to adapt to the needs of our business — they really are the best at what they do.”

Mike Jordan, United’s regional fleet manager added: “United Rentals has the most robust service programme of anybody in the rental business. We maintain a preventative service program with up-to-date service and warranty checks.”
