Two new crawlers for Select
UK rental company Select Plant Hire has taken delivery of two new Liebherr telescopic crawler cranes, a 60 tonne LTR 1060 and a 100 tonne capacity LTR 1100.
The new cranes went straight to work on Edinburgh’s tram project and London’s Gateway Port project.
The LTR 1060 is equipped with a 40 metre main boom, a 2.5 metre assembly jib and a 9.5 to 16 metres bi-fold swingaway extension, providing a maximum height under-hook of 54.5 metres.

The LTR 1100 has a 52 metre boom, a 2.9 metre assembly jib and a 10.8 to 19 metres bi-fold swingaway. The self-assembly system allows the crane to install its own counterweights - 32 tonnes on the superstructure and 15 tonnes on the carbody.
Both units have power retract tracks, reducing the overall width to three metres on the 60 and 3.5 metres on the 1100. The cranes also have load charts for the narrow configurations, which are naturally programmed into the load indicator.
Select has been a Liebherr customer for many years and currently has ten LR type crawler lift cranes and two HS duty cycle crawler cranes, in its fleet with capacities ranging from 65 to 160 tonnes.

The LTR 1060 and LTR 1100, as with all new generation Liebherr cranes, are fitted with the latest GSM module technology, providing a direct on-board link between the customer and Liebherr’s service engineers, both in the UK and its Ehingen plant, in order to provide efficient trouble shooting/diagnostics.
