First Multitel MX250 in UK

UK rental company Platform Hire has taken delivery of the first 25 metre Multitel MX250 truck mounted lift in the country.

The model which was launched at APEX last September offers up to 12.2 metres of working outreach and is mounted on a 3.5 tonne Nissan Cabstar chassis. Platform Hire will offer the new machine both as an operated or self-drive unit.

The new model has standard in-board stabilisers at the front and H-frame outriggers at the rear. It is also possible to use the platform with all four jacks set within the overall width of the machine. The company claim that the units overall height of 2.6 metres and width of 2.2 metres coupled with its outrigger system makes it ideal for inner city working or situations with restricted space.

The MX250 offers up to 12.2 metres of working outreach and 25 metres of working height

Dave Williams, managing director of Platform Hire, said: “The decision to buy the MX250 was a no brainer, its working height of over 25 metres and the up and over clearance of 12 metres is just what our business needed. It was also important to be able to offer our customers the flexibility of a larger boom whilst being able to drive the vehicle without having a 7.5 tonne licence. We also took up the option of having the MX250 with automatic self-levelling outriggers to make it easier for the self-drive market.”

Platform Hire has taken delivery of the UK’s first Multitel MX250

Melvyn Else, managing director of Access Industries, Multitel's distributor in the UK added: “This is the best 3.5 tonne truck mounted access platform to come out of Multitel since I started working with the company some 25 years ago.”

Based in Droitwich, in the English midlands, Platform Hire currently offers a range of scissors and booms, but hopes that the MX250 will spur on the formation of a new truck mounted division within the company.
