Construction Orders up six percent

UK construction orders according too the Department of Trade & Industry for the year to February 2005 rose by six per cent compared to orders in the previous twelve month period, Orders in the three months to February 2005 fell by one per cent compared to the same three
months of 2004 but were up one percent on the preceding three months.

Year on year the changes in order intake were as follows:
- Private housing orders rose by 12 percent.
- Public housing and housing association orders rose by 14 percent
- Infrastructure orders in the year to February 2005 decreased by 12 percent
- Public non-housing orders (excluding infrastructure) rose by 10 percent .
- Private commercial orders were 8 per cent higher.
- Private industrial orders fell by three per cent compared to the previous year but rose by 16 per cent for the three months to February 2005 .
