Falling scaffold strikes pedestrian
A 72 year old woman was injured yesterday after she was knocked to the ground by falling scaffold in Manhattan, New York.
The scaffold walkway was being dismantled at the time, from the façade of a building on West 23rd Street and according to those carrying out the work, the area was cordoned-off with cones. They claim she ignored them and walked on through just as the lower level of the scaffold unexpectedly collapsed.
She was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg, local reports claim that New York’s Buildings Department issued the scaffolder - Everest Scaffolding - with two violations and is investigating the cause of the collapse.
