Böcker Takes Steinweg

The Böcker Group, parent company of Albert Böcker and Robert Böcker, producers of Aluminium trailer cranes, Material and passenger Hoists along with Alp-Lift aerial and material lifts, has purchased the passenger and material hoist business of fellow German producer Steinweg.

Steinweg GmbH & Co KG, which went into administration in November 2004, produces a range of vertical mast rack and pinion hoists as well as inclined ladder type material lifts. The company was founded in 1942 and has been run by three generations of the Steinweg family until last year.

The acquisition does not include the Steinweg production facility in Werne, but thanks to its proximity to the Böcker plant, all of the 50 remaining Steinweg employees will join Böcker. At its main Lipperstrasse factory, where production of Steinweg hoists has already started.

The full integration of the two companies is expected to be completed by September. The entire Steinweg range will continue to be built by a new company within the group, Steinweg-Böcker-Baumaschinen GmbH, and marketed under the Steinweg brand.

Böcker believes that its strong distribution and export sales experience will substantially improve sales of Steinweg products, which until now have been largely sold in Germany and surrounding markets. A full review of the two companies distribution networks will be made prior to making any decisions in regards to combining them.
