Scissor cake

When Ben Hirst, managing director of UK rental company Horizon took the plunge and was wed just over a week ago, his bride surprised him with the wedding cake.

The two, who met just over five years ago, were married in the historic Palacio de Soñanes hotel, 36km south of Santander, Spain, home of Hirst's Spanish born wife Tracy Muñiz Ryan.

The wedding combined a traditional Spanish wedding with English traditions, including the groom’s speech which was delivered rather fluently in both languages.

The bride appears to have accepted that he husband has another love - Horizon Platforms and as a surprise she arranged for a scale model of a JLG 2646ES scissor lift to be placed atop the wedding cake.

The two returned from Spain last week- to sunny Yorkshire – in time for Vertikal Days – of course – and will take their honeymoon later in the year.
