Fatal overturn in Georgia
The owner of a tree service company died last week while his colleague was seriously injured after the bucket truck they were using overturned and catapulted them out of the platform.
The men were working on a tree in Tignall, Wilkes County, Georgia, USA when the truck overturned coming to rest on the ‘knuckle’ of the articulated boom, throwing both men across the road. We assume that neither was wearing a harness and lanyard.
Michael Tanner, owner of Tanner's Tree Service, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ben Combs, was taken to the hospital and is said to be in fair condition.
At this stage we do not know what might have caused the overturn.
