Ainscough Wind confirms Wathen’s new role

Ainscough Wind Energy Services, part of the Ainscough Crane Hire group, has confrimed the appointment of Steve Wathen as commercial director.

Wathen will be responsible for managing all aspects of the wind company’s commercial activities including driving sales growth, improving productivity and services.

Wathen started out in the crane industry with Hewden Stuart in 1986, moving to Baldwins in 2000 and then Ainscough Crane Hire as technical sales manager in 2002. His most recent post was commercial manager of Ainscough Heavy Cranes.

Ainscough Wind is becoming one of the UK’s leading wind turbine erection and maintenance specialists following its acquisition of Windcon Energy Services in late 2011. The company offers construction, maintenance, servicing, retro-fit and major component changes for wind turbines and has constructed around 2,000 turbines across the UK, continental Europe, Canada and North America.

Wathen said: “Ainscough Wind forms a major part of the wider Ainscough business and we have exciting plans to grow our market share in the wind energy sector. I am very much looking forward to driving this new, specialist division of the business forward.”

John Fabby, founder of Windcon and now a director of Ainscough Wind added: "I am very pleased that my team has a sustainable future as part of a larger group such as Ainscough, who share the same passion for people and principles around business. Steve has a wealth of commercial experience and his drive and enthusiasm will be a real asset to us.”
