Merlo recycler
UK based recycling and waste disposal company Stanton Recycling has added a new Merlo Panoramic P55.9CS telehandler to its workforce.
The P55.9CS has an 8.6 metre lift height and a maximum capacity of 5,500kg. Weighing just over 10 tonnes it is 2.4 metres wide and just under 2.5 metres in height. As well as featuring Merlo’s cab suspension system it has also been fitted with SG Revolution super cushion solid rubber tyres.
The machine uses an Eco Power drive system that links a machines hydrostatic pump, motor and engine through a controller which reacts to the speed demands from the operator and delivers the power in the most efficient manner. A three way selector in the cab allows the operator to choose between Ecopower, Fine control or Full control with Stanton Recycling saying it operates in Ecopower mode, retaining the ‘Full control’ mode for only the heaviest work.

Mick Clifton, operations manager at Stanton Recycling, said: “This is a hard working environment in which we receive up to 30 refuse wagons a day and our drivers can spend up to nine hours in the cab. Combining the cushioning effect of the CS cab with the puncture-proof SG tyres means we have the benefits of low downtime whilst protecting the health and efficiency of our drivers. Another key factor that convinced us to go with Merlo was the immediate response from the local dealer Cooks Midlands which is based in Leicester.”
The Illkeston, Derbyshire based recycling company has operated from the Old Iron Works site since 1974 and receives over 75,000 tonnes of local green waste and general domestic waste a year. The company has nine employees and currently has three telehandlers as well as a 360 degree grab-equipped excavator.
