AGD takes first Marchetti cranes

UK and Ireland distributor for Marchetti telescopic crawler and AT cranes – Stratford-upon-Avon based AGD Equipment - has taken delivery of two machines that have been added to its rental fleet.

Both cranes are the 70 tonne capacity Marchetti Sherpa CW70.42L with 42 metre main boom however one is equipped as an access platform giving a working height of more than 50 metres.

The first crane to be delivered is painted in the distinctive Cancer Research pink livery to commemorate one of AGD Equipment’s founder members Josephine Knott. A percentage of the rental earned by this machine will be donated to the charity. The crane is currently working on a site in Aldgate, City of London carrying out general lifting duties during concreting including lifting formwork, handling rebar and skipping concrete.

The first crane working on a site in Aldgate, City of London has been painted in Cancer Research's pink livery.


The second crane is fully equipped as an aerial platform and with the eight metre lattice jib extension gives a working height of about 52 metres. This unit is currently working inside the dome at Drax Power Station that will be used to store biomass fuels.

“The machine has been modified so that it functions as an access platform when the appropriate duty is selected on the RCI,” said AGD’s managing director Robert Law. “The platform also has controls and a back-up power pack to lower the basket in the event of power failure of the main crane engine.”

AGD is a family-owned construction equipment sales, rental and service company formed more than 30 years ago and has a rental fleet of more than 80 crawler and mini cranes.
