Access at the Bolshoi

The State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia has purchased a 23 metre Palazzani TSJ 23 /C ECO spider lift for its production and warehouse facility.

The new lift has a non-standard "ECO"-power pack combining battery and 220 volt AC capability and is the first machine of this type in Russia.

The wood floors dictated low ground bearing pressures

The unit was purchased through LTECH following a tender held in May 2012, the Palazzani satisfied the specifications, had the keenest price and shortest delivery time. The Bolshoi also had prior experience of working with LTECH, which had supplied a Snorkel MB26J mast boom back in 2011.

The basic requirements for this new platform were low ground bearing pressures, a 23 metre working height, combined battery/AC power source, compact dimensions- including the ability to fit through particular doorways, a tight turning circle and non-marking tracks.

The Palazzani working at the Bolshoi

The lift will be operated inside the 23 metre high mounting and painting workshops as well as outdoors. The workshops have wood floors, which is why the ground bearing pressure was an issue. The machine will carry out maintenance of teleclimbers, be used for hanging decorations, lighting and installation and dismounting of scenery at The Bolshoi Theatre.
