It’s a jungle out there!

Italian lifting and haulage company Vernazza Autogru has taken delivery of two uniquely painted Terex Challenger cranes. The 55 tonne Terex Challenger 3160 and 60 tonne Challenger 3180 All Terrain cranes are also be the first Challengers delivered to Italy.

After having great success with a giraffe painted crane a couple of years back the company opted to paint the 3160 to resemble a zebra and the 3180 to look like a tiger. It added that the paint job will have a distinctive added value from a marketing standpoint giving Vernazza brand recognition.

The three axle 3180, which is still getting its stripes painted, has a 50 metre main boom as well as a 16 metre swingaway extension and offers a 37.9 tonne capacity at a four metre radius. The 3160 has a 50 metre main boom and offers a 35.6 tonne capacity at the same distance.

Patrick Gianoncelli, marketing manger for Vernazza, said: “The decision to go for the Challenger 3160 and 3180 was based on their advanced features. The cranes have a big operating flexibility, so they can be utilized in both urban environments and in confined spaces. Thanks to their smooth movements, they can also perform lifting operations where precision is a determining factor."

"Our activity spans the whole country, so having the best type of equipment for a specific lifting operation, in addition to the very high skill level of our operators, marks our strength. The two Challenger cranes integrate very well into our fleet and serve to round out our range."
