Cargotec to restructure operations in Sweden

Cargotec is planning to adjust and restructure its Hiab crane operations in Hudiksvall, Sweden in order to improve profitability.

In the short-term, the company says it needs to "adjust its production capacity due to a decline in demand and the uncertainty of the European load handling equipment market. It is also vital to develop a more competitive production and transport set-up closer to existing and future customers and partners in the long term".

Future production of the smaller loader cranes – up to 11 tonne metres and from 21 to 28 tonne metres – will be carried out in Stargard, Poland.

Cargotec plans to continue to produce some loader cranes as well as recycling and forestry cranes in Hudiksvall. Product development, sales and after sales support as well as service and other related support functions will also continue.

The company will begin negotiations with the unions on possible staff reductions at Hudiksvall by perhaps as many as 150 employees.
