SmartEquip signs Ramirent
SmartEquip the US based online parts and service management and procurement software provider, has signed up Finnish based international rental company Ramirent and is planning a new European launch.
The company counts JLG, Genie, Skyjack, Cat, Manitou, JCB and many others among its manufacturing customers and United Rentals, RSC, Sunbelt and Cat Rental Stores among its rental clients.
The software connects manufacturers, dealers and rental companies electronically and aims to provide substantial transaction costs savings for parts sales and purchases by combining with most current rental software solutions.
Ramirent will initially trial the system in its Swedish operations before extending it to its other operations as it follows the roll out of its new Wynne systems management software.
SmartEquip was established 13 years ago by executive vice chairman, Alexander Schuessler and announced a previous start up in Europe with Michel Petitjean who later went on to head the European Rental Association. That venture, based in Paris never really got off the ground.

This time round Schuessler will head the company’s newly formed International Group as president. The company is currently negotiating with other major European rental companies.
“Europe has long represented a natural expansion of our market,” said Schuessler. “Today, we support many European, U.S.-based, and other international manufacturers in North America, and they have long urged us to support their customers, dealers and distributors on a broad global basis.”
“Similarly, over the past 18 months, we have worked with numerous European rental companies and global contractors, who have carefully studied the use of the SmartEquip Network in North America and are ready to implement the technology in their business. We are excited about the partnerships we have now started to build in Europe, and I am personally pleased to oversee this very important aspect of our company’s growth.”
Schuessler is German and was educated in the UK and USA and was a co-founder of Script International — a company that supported Caterpillar’s entry into the equipment rental business across South America, before founding SmartEquip in 2000.
